Ramayana Teaser Review
India’s most expensive film, the biggest casting, and even more expensive promotion. And the result of all this will be decided by just a 3-minute video.
A director who earned ₹2000 crore, a ₹1200 crore Rocky Bhai, a ₹900 crore Animal, a ₹700 crore Tara Singh, a music artist with four Oscars, and a VFX company that has won eight Oscars — all of them have come together just for this 3-minute video. That’s why it goes without saying that the eyes of 140 crore Indians — that is 280 crore eyes — are all fixed on this.
So, will the 180 seconds of Ramayana areally change the history and future of the entire film industry, or will it turn out to be another case of “digging a mountain and getting Om Raut”? That’s the biggest question on everyone’s mind.
This is the story of India’s true history, which took Ramanand Sagar nearly 80 episodes to complete. How will they fit that entire story into just two 3-hour-long films?
But here, in just 3 minutes, the same feeling came that I had felt in Ayodhya. I told you before — no matter how much you hype Yash, Ranbir, Sai Pallavi, Sunny Deol, and the rest of the cast — the real game of Ramayana will be played by Nitesh Tiwari. You wouldn’t have even dreamed that after 10 years, Nitesh Tiwari himself would be the man to surpass Dangal's ₹2000 crore record.
How can 3 minutes turn into ₹3000 crore? Maybe the perfect example of that is this Ramayana "first glimpse" video. Frankly, I know many people are going to be disappointed because they expected a teaser, but actually, this was just the official logo launch of the film. That’s why there aren’t many film shots in the teaser. It’s simply an introduction — to the film’s scale, the director’s vision, and the top-quality special effects.
But if you watch closely, the entire magic of Ramayana is hidden in these designs — created with incredible intelligence, detailing, and storytelling.
#My one major complaint about the teaser...
But before that, the best and most interesting thing was the teaser's opening with the Trimurti — Brahma, Vishnu, and Mahesh (Shiva). We know why the Ramayana happened, but this film attempts to show how it began. That means this film will cover not just Ramayana, but what came before and after as well.
Some people ask, “Why keep remaking Ramayana again and again? We already know everything.” But just 3 minutes into this teaser and your misunderstanding is gone — you know nothing.
Animated looks of Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram vs. Yash as Ravana— that face-off may look calm, but it's just the calm before the storm. Did you notice the red and blue light? It conveys good vs. evil without saying a word — and the quality is screaming out loud.
Of course, many will compare this to Adipurush. The makers knew that. That’s probably why they later showed real shots of both actors. Did you see how just a few seconds of their first glimpse gave goosebumps?
If this is how intense 3 seconds felt, just imagine sitting through 3 hours in a theater. Ranbir Kapoor suits Lord Ram so perfectly — I didn’t expect that. Even though his full look wasn’t revealed, it still feels like perfect casting.
And Yash... just his eyes — oh my God. Ravana’s full form wasn’t even shown, but from his eyes alone, I felt a chill.
Now coming to my one complaint — whose idea was it to use so much English? If everything had been written in Hindi, the audience would have connected even more. With a subject like this, emotional connection is most important. Even if the film is made by Hollywood artists, it’s going to be watched by desi (Indian) audiences. This should be remembered next time.
That’s probably why this teaser may not get the love it deserves — because when people hear Ramayana, they don’t expect so much animation. It will take time for audiences to digest this.
By the way, speaking of “foreign,” the music is amazing — it’s different, not the usual old-style stuff — but still has a devotional touch.
If you ask me personally, from the beginning I felt that Yash as Ravana was the film’s X factor. In my opinion, if you remove him from the film, it would still be a big movie — but maybe not cinema that changes history.
However, from the way the makers released the first poster, it looks like they’re betting everything on superstar Ranbir Kapoor. Many people got irritated when Sandeep Reddy Vanga called Ranbir a superstar while announcing Animal— but now, in 2025, you can see for yourself why. For the next 10 years, there’s no one else who can match him in Bollywood.
The epic battle between Ram and Ravana we’ll see in the movie will spark an even bigger fan war on social media, starting now and continuing for the next decade.
Who deserves the real credit for Ramayana? That question will haunt both the filmmakers and the audience. But if you have the answer, the comment section is open.
And yes, tell the truth — what was your favorite part of this 3-minute video?
Can 3 minutes really turn into ₹3000 crore? Or will Pushpa 2 remain unbeaten?
